TELESCOPE DIGITAL EYEPIECE EE300
USER MANUAL
This digital eyepiece/camera can be fitted to telescopes with 1.25” (31.75mm) eyepiece holder/focuser. It can change images into digital signal and transfer it to your PC. It can also record video footage through the telescope and save the file into the computer.

This digital eyepiece utilises the new CMOS technology which provides the capability of integrating image sensing and digital signal processing on the same chip, resulting faster, smaller, less expensive, lower power consumption, and high-quality image sensing system. This device has automatic light/colour control functions such as light exposure, image gAIn, and white balance. Image quality (eg. brightness, contrast, gamma, hue, saturation and sharpness) can be adjusted to your preference, and images can be captured and saved into computer in BMP or JPG format. The video recording function provides continuous distant monitoring capability through telescopes, and still images can also be captured from video footage.
- Driver installation
3.1 Start your computer. Do not plug the USB cable into your PC at this time and close all the running programs.
3.2 Plug the digital eyepiece into the USB socket of your PC. If your computer runs Windows XP, it should be able to recognise the new hardware as a camera device and automatically install the driver. You will be able to see a camera icon under “My Computer”. You can take digital pictures from there at this default mode (please refer to topic ‘How to take pictures through the scope’ below). Please note that the default image mode does not reach the full resolution capacity of the digital system until the following procedure is completed.
3.3 Insert the software disc into the computer’s CD/DVD drive, explore the disc and open folder “Fireworks”, double click the filename “Fireworks.exe”, then select “Burn”. This will update the system image resolution to its full capacity. Unplug the digital eyepiece from the computer and plug it again to make the update become effective.
3.4 Explore the software disc and open the folder corresponding to the windows system that your computer is running. Double click the filename “Setup.exe”. This will install the video recording driver. On the setup screen, agree/accept the options to install the video driver. A Microsoft program named “AMCAP” will be installed. This is a camera application program that allows video recording and control/adjustment of the digital camera’s features. The shortcut to run this program can be found from Start > All Programs > USB PC Camera > AMCAP. A shortcut can also be found on your computer’s desktop.
3.5 Upon the completion of step 3.4, you should be able to take digital pictures (by double clicking the camera icon from “My Computer”) and video recording (by using the AMCAP program) with the digital eyepiece. An optional program is also available in the software disc in folder “Vp_eye3.0”. This is camera application software which allows picture taking and video recording in one place. You can install this program if you wish (double click the “setup.exe” in that folder). More detailed information on how to use this program can be found in the Help manual of the Vp_eye3.0 program.
3.6 Restart the computer and repeat the above steps if you encounter any problems during the installation.
Note: Consider the following measures if there are problems during the driver installation:
- How to adjust image quality on computer screen?
4.1 Connect the digital eyepiece to your telescope and to the computer. On your computer, choose “Start” > “All programs” > “PC Camera” > “AMCAP”. This will open a window frame to show what you would see through the telescope. Aim the scope at a target and adjust the telescope’s focus wheel until the image becoMES clear.
4.2 From the AMCAP program, go to “Options” then “Video capture filter”, and select “Outdoor”. Adjust image quality such as brightness, contrast, gamma, hue, saturation and sharpness to your preference.
4.3 From “Options”, select “Video capture pin”, set “Output Size” to 800x600 (this is for better video display on your PC screen).
Note: If you have difficulty getting the image into focus through the scope’s focus wheel, you can turn the front part of the digital eyepiece (close to the small lens) slightly. This will adjust the distance between the small lens and the light sensor on the chip, which will aid the focus adjustment with the scope’s focusing system. This method is not recommended unless it is necessary. Once the digital lens position is properly set, it should be kept the same for future use with the same telescope.
- How to take digital pictures through the scope?
5.1 Open up “My Computer” and select “USB Video Device” (file type: digital camera) when the device is attached. You can see the live preview of what can be seen through the eyepiece. Please note that it will not show the live preview (with an error and blank screen) if another program is already running that is using the eyepiece’s input feed (eg. AMCAP, or another Windows Explorer that has lOAded the camera) at the same time.
5.2 Aim the scope at a distant target and adjust the focus wheel of the scope until the image becomes clear.
5.3 You can turn the digital eyepiece within the eyepiece holder of the telescope to adjust the image orientation on the computer screen.
5.4 Under “Camera Tasks” of the left screen pane, click “Take a new picture”. The image of the current scene will be captured and saved as an image file. The captured photos are then listed on the screen and you can move them to another location and rename the files as you wish.
5.5 Alternatively, if you have installed the camera applicationprogramVp_eye3.0,you can also take digital pictures (and video recordings) using thisprogram.
- How to record video footage through the scope?
6.1 Run the AMCAP program and go to “File”, select “Set capture file”. Choose a location you want your video to be saved and give a filename ending with .avi (eg. Video.avi) and click “Open”. On the next screen “Set file size”, just click OK as this is only to control the initial file size.
6.2 To begin recording, go to “Capture” manual, choose “Start capture” and click OK. This will start recording.
6.3 To stop recording, go to “Capture” then select “Stop capture”. The video will be saved and can be viewed by accessing the .avi file that you have named in the first step.
6.4 You can also set the recording time and frame rate as you wish.

Note:A Moon filter will be needed if you want to take pictures of the Moon using this digital camera. You can also add a Barlow lens to increase the overall image magnification

驱动程序安装
- 开启你的电脑,并关闭所有正在运行的程序,把电子目镜接上电脑,把随机安装光盘插入光驱,更新差值,将摄像头DSP的EEPROM的BIN档更新,打开301HUVC差值文件后双击FIREWORKS,然后把摄像头取下来,再接入,打开光驱点击“驱动/DRIVE”安装,,安装程序后再取下摄像头再接入就可以使用了,根据显示屏上安装程序的指引,完成该产品的驱动安装;
- 设备安装时有错误可以按如下方法检查:
(1) 重新拔掉电子目镜,换一个USB口插入,重新查找设备;
(2) 请重启动电脑,重新自动查找;
(3) 卸载掉驱动程序,再重新安装;
(4) 系统中是否装有其它相关程序,卸载除掉再重新安装;
(5) 检查电脑USB接口连线是否正常,主板USB接口驱动是否安装正确;
(6) 到其它台的电脑上安装试试看,能不能正常使用;
(7) 可以进设备管理器里面查看,步骤:我的电脑(右键)——属性——硬件——设备管理器——图像处理设备里面有一个PC CAMERA显示是否正常,如有“!”“?”在上面,选中点鼠标右键——更新程序——选第二项“指定列表”——指定驱动所在位置里面的相对应的驱动程序——下一步——直到找到完成,再查看设备管理器里的“图像处理设备”里的选项。
4.打开视频窗口,天文望远镜的镜头对准目标,调整天文望远镜的调焦手轮调整焦距;
5.选择“开始”——“程序”——“PC CAMERA”打开“AMCAP”,出现图像画面,你根据需要调整里面的数值;
6.选择“OPTIONS”VIDEO CAPTURE FILTER…进行调整你希望的亮度、灰度、色彩等效果;
7.选择“OPTIONS”VIDEO CAPTURE PIN…调整视频格式及分辨率大小等,在视窗下可以全屏显示。
